Currently in Newport OR (Low 52 Sunny High 69)
Yesterday we drove approximately 100 miles to Newport Oregon. Here is the route we took.
Here is a shot Jo took along the way. She is getting better at photos taken while on the road. Another very scenic drive in Oregon.
We are staying at the RV Park at the Marina so should have a good seat for the fireworks on the 4th. Right now the "forecast" for the week is no rain so we shall see how long that lasts.
The last full day of our stay in North Bend we were able to get in sightseeing with clear skies. We headed south to Bandon and first to Bullards Beach State Park where you can find the Coquille River Lighthouse.
Bob of course climbed the stairs to the top for the tour.
Not the best shot through the plexiglass windows but a great view nonetheless.
Bullards Beach is scenic.
Then it was off to downtown Bandon
and lunch at Tony's Crab Shack where we split a lobster roll and a crab sandwich. Wish we had found this place sooner as this is really good food. Can't say much for the foodie scene in North Bend/Coos Bay. After lunch we walked around downtown and saw some neat wood carvings. Here is one of a dungeness crab.
The view of the lighthouse from downtown.
Next stop was the Face Rock Scenic Viewpoint State Park where it is also incredibly scenic.
People on horseback enjoying the beach and the nice weather.
By now it was time to get back to the park so that we could get things organized for our trip to Newport. Even though we did not have the best weather here we were amazed when looking at the photos just how much we had seen.
Till next time,
Bob and Jo
