CATCHING UP - REVIEW OF CLEAR LAKE IOWA FOOD SCENE

Houghton MI (Low 47 Partly Sunny and Cooler High 64)

Catching up on our adventures traveling to the Upper Peninsula earlier this year.

We were pleasantly surprised at the food scene in Clear Lake Iowa. For a town of less than 8,000 the food was really good, for any sized town for that matter. Clear Lake is a big resort town in the summer which may help to explain why.

The first report will be on PM Park

where we added another Specialty Pancake to 'Our Favorite Things - Food' list. The orange pancakes were amazing and may be Jo's new favorite pancake.

The biscuits, gravy, hash browns, omelets were also very good at PM Park.

They may have been a little better at Sevens in downtown Clear Lake. We ate both breakfast and lunch at Sevens and everything was real good. They have a very good lunch combo where you can choose a salad, soup and entree for a very reasonable price.

We had a pizza at "The Other Place" and although it was good the crust could have been a little thinner for our tastes. The hit there though had to be the beer and cheese pasta sauce. Bob got a two sauce mixture of that and meat sauce over spaghetti and it was very good.

Clear Lake, and all of Iowa for that matter, surprised us as to the diversity of the places to see and eat. We need to spend more time exploring the state where Bob grew up, but it turns out he hardly knew.

Till next time,

Bob and Jo
