Watson Lake Park

When we checked in to the Fairgrounds RV Park in Prescott Valley we asked where was the best breakfast in the area. The one recommendation was Blue Hills Cafe in nearby Dewey so that is where we headed yesterday and we are glad that we did. The Blue Hills Cafe offers home cooking and lots of it. Bob got steak and eggs with hash browns and a biscuit and gravy. The hash browns were a little different than most but great. In fact Bob commented they were very similar to the potato cakes that his Mom made from leftover mashed potatoes. The biscuit was huge and the gravy was excellent. Jo got raisin french toast and she commented it was the best french toast she has had in awhile.

We next went to Watson Lake Park which is conveniently located about 4 miles north of downtown Prescott and about 12 miles west of our park. Watson's water surface is about 380 surface acres and is distinguished by its sky blue calm waters surrounded by granite boulders that are the beginning of the Granite Dells.

We should have brought our birding book and binoculars as Watson Lake is an Audubon endorsed bird watching area where you can spot hundreds of bird species including eagles and pelicans. We also should have brought Judy of Travels with Emma for her bird photography skills. The granite boulders were amazing, in fact mountain rescue groups train in the area.

Here are some photos of our day at Watson Lake.

Till next time,

Bob and Jo

  1. Nice lake, but I would think you would have to be careful of all those rocks.
