TRAVELIUS INTERRUPTUS

Currently in Oklahoma City OK (Low 67 Mostly Sunny and Very Warm High 94)

While we were "planning" on being in Clinton Oklahoma last night and tonight we ended up in Oklahoma City. Why you ask? Our truck is having some issues where we suddenly go into "limp mode" which cuts the power significantly. It is its way of trying to protect itself from a problem we are having.

This happens only when towing as we had the problem just before the RV Park in Claremore but ran the truck the next three days on errands and no problems. We of course were towing today and went into "limp mode". Bob pulled off the shoulder and turned the ignition on and off a few times and were able to move on down the road. Then it happened again and then this light appeared on the dash.

We got out the manual and found out that meant "Service Engine Soon". Since we were about 15 minutes from Oklahoma City we decided to go at least that far, but no further. After checking for RV Parks we decided on the Twin Fountains RV Park which we have stayed before.

After unhooking Bob tried the Ford dealership and was told at least a week before their diesel guy could take a look. They recommended a company that is also busy but can look at it in a couple of days. Bob took the truck this morning so they could work on it as soon as they are able and to get new shocks. We are renting a car until the truck is fixed. Hopefully we will be able to get to the International Balloon Fiesta early RV parking next Monday.

We'll keep you posted.

Till next time,

Bob and Jo

  1. Oh no. When our truck did that we ended up having to replace the injectors. $$$$. Hope that's not your problem.

  2. That service engine light is universally feared!

  3. Never good to run an engine with that light on. When our F350 broke down it was a CAC tube, whatever that is. It only cost us $180. Thankfully we had Good Sam Roadside Assistance who had a huge tow truck tow us from 100 miles east of El Paso over the mountains to Carlsbad, NM. There was absolutely nothing where we were stuck except a junction in the highway. I'm so glad we carry our bathroom with us in the 5th wheel. LOL.
