GOT TIPS FROM OTHER BLOGGERS AND AN APOLOGY

Houghton MI (Low 48 Sunny then Rain later High 68)

First the apology. This is our first blog post in a while. We have been sightseeing and taking a lot of photos so we have a lot of future blog posts once we label all those photos.

We saw a great new cat toy on Travel Bug. Bob and Susan (yes another Bob :-) travel with cats and they recently bought the HotPursuit interactive cat toy at Wal-Mart and blogged about it here. Well we just had to get one for our cats, the Houghton Wal-Mart did not stock it but with used the Site-to-Store shipping. Our cats really like it. The arm under the cloth goes round and round driving them crazy.

Here is the arm tip that they have chewed off they like it so much.

We also have another apology. On one of the blogs that we read someone mentioned having blueberry pumpkin pancakes. The blueberries are just coming in fresh so we tried it and we loved the combo. We apologize because we cannot remember who gave us this culinary tip. Funny that we would remember cat stuff and not food stuff.

We hope to do a better job blogging about our great time in the Upper Peninsula.

Till next time,

Bob and Jo

  1. Good to hear from you. I saw that thing advertised on TV and wondered if cats would really like it. Good to know it does work. And it wasn't me with the pancakes.

  2. Going to give that toy a try with Bella. She is 10 now and starting to slow down a bit. This might get her up and running. Thanks.

  3. It's better to be out there doing things than worry about the blog. :)

  5. I don't have cats but I saw that on TV and thought it looked like fun. You should post a video of your cats playing with it.

  6. Hi Bob and Jo,
Glad your cats like the HotPursuit toy. Mine like it so much I'm on the fourth set of batteries. This is one way to use up a Costco-sized pack of AA batteries that have been sitting around for a few months. My cats haven't chewed the orange "tail" in four pieces yet. LOL. Did yours come with a feather attachment too. If I put the feather attachment on, Sunnie tries to eat the whole thing, so I have to take it off.

BTW, it was me who mentioned pumpkin-blueberry pancakes. We go to Target and buy their Archer Farms Pumpkin pancake mix and add the fresh blueberries after we pour the batter. Sometimes we top the pancakes with pure maple syrup and other times with hot cinnamon applesauce.

    Thanks for the shout outs.

    1. After what they did to the rubber tipped one the feather one would really drive them crazy. If we did use it we would have to put it away once done or it would not last the night.

We thought it was you but did a quick search on your blog and could not find the blueberry pumpkin pancakes. The wild blueberries are on the roadside stands along with raspberries so we are having a great fresh fruit year.

  7. P.S. We are following your blog closely as we plan our trip to Michigan for Sept. 2014. I am making a long list of places to go. If you're in San Antonio in the next year I hope we can meet. We'd love to hear all your stories about where you've been!

    1. Michigan is a great place to visit, especially the UP in the summer. Don't know when we will be in San Antonio but maybe we can meet up on the road sometime.
