Window Update

Window repair went badly so now we are getting a new window; that is the good news!

The bad news is that it takes 3 weeks to get a new window. We will be extending our stay at the campground as we wait for the new window. The really bad news is that we will have to cancel Bob's fishing trip in Canada. We should be able to be back on our planned itinerary after the fishing trip barring any future issues.

There are a lot worse places to spend almost an extra month so we will be OK. We already have mentioned a couple of things that we would like to do including Yellowstone Bear World and the Legacy of Flight Museum in Rexburg. There are great places to eat also.

Wherever we are are we sightsee and eat, Idaho Falls is great on both counts.

Till next time,

Bob and Jo

  2. Don't miss your fishing trip! What a wimp!!! Get you window fixed. But on your "Stormin' to Norman" hat and gut out a few long driving days and go fishing like you planned! Boy have you gotten soft since our Kissinging trip! And you can tell Mark that I said so!

    1. We would probably be OK with the "Stormin' to Norman" routine but we are afraid our cats would not like it :-)

  3. A comment you left on my blog inspired me to catch up with you two. Didn't know we are so close to each other - same state. :) We are heading the other direction today, towards Boise. So sorry to read about your window, what a pain.

Odel and I visited the Flood Museum in Rexburg several years ago (it was pouring down rain). As we watched the movie, an older couple and their grown daughter and two grandkids sat behind us. From a few comments they made, we could tell that they lived in Rexburg during the flood. When the movie ended, we started a conversation with them, and their story came pouring out, scary and fascinating.

When they stepped away from us to look at the museums artifacts, their daughter came over and told us that her parents (who had sent her and her siblings away to an aunt's house for several months after the flood) had NEVER talked to her about the flood - what they went through physically, emotionally and financially. Their outpouring of their story to us was the first time she had heard them describe the horror of it. She had tears in her eyes as she told us this, and was so grateful that she had the chance to hear their story.

Interesting experience for us all that day.

  4. Wow! So sorry to hear the cancellation of that trip---but as someone else said, you guys are doing a good job making lemonade! You two are great at seeking out places to eat!!! Enjoy your extended stay! How far is Idaho Falls from Soda Springs? I had family from there--as the Swains came from England in the 1850's and some settled there....and yes, they were Mormons....
