We celebrated Christmas earlier this week. Here is one of the Christmas windows at the Schreiner Department Store. We really liked the red trees.
On the medical front Jo continued her physical therapy. Some positive news on the lumps removed from JJ (the cat) and Bob. JJ's lump was cancerous but slow growing and unlikely to metastasize elsewhere. Enough surrounding tissue was removed and tested clean so hopefully all is well with JJ. Bob's lumps were cysts. JJ and Bob are recovering nicely.
Celebrating Jo's birthday month began a little earlier than normal this year with a trip to San Antonio for a free meal at First Watch. We also had a 50% off coupon at Carrabbas that expires soon along with a return at Costco so we made a day of it. Jo's birthday is next month so we look forward to more freebies for her. As far as going to San Antonio on Friday Jo tried to tell Bob that there would be more than normal crowds due to Iowa State being in the Alamo Bowl.
Bob thought that since we 16 miles northwest of the Alamodome and on game day it wouldn't be a problem. Well, Jo was right. We walked in and there is a couple with Iowa State t-shirts on waiting. Four tables in the place had Iowa State people and some more followed us in.
We woke up the last couple mornings thinking we were back in Missouri. At least the Iowa State visitors got some great weather before the Alamo Bowl. Bob is a little bummed that Iowa State lost in the Alamo Bowl. First of all congratulations to Washington State, great team with a great coach and incredible quarterback. But if you are looking for a silver lining it's that Iowa State proved once again it can play with the big boys now. Without 3 turnovers that lead to 14 points and without 10 penalties, 7 of which were false starts, this 2 point defeat MAY have turned out differently. The future is certainly bright as the majority of starters were underclassmen now with a bitter taste in their mouths just how close they came this year.
It's on to college basketball leading up to March Madness!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS
Currently in Kerrville TX (Low 50 Clouds with Drizzle High 67)
We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and for all to remember that Jesus is the reason for the season!
We went to the Christmas Eve Mass yesterday which was a childrens Mass. Here is Father Dave reading the Gospel of Luke with the children sitting in front of him.
It was so neat, as he was reading the kids acted out what we were hearing about Bethlehem. He then explained the Gospel and the true meaning of Christmas and then asking a few questions of the kids. As you can see the kids were so cute.
We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

FOOD TRUCK AND MEDICAL
Currently in Kerrville TX (Low 33 Plenty of Sunshine; Cooler High 60)
We finally sampled the food truck craze going on and we picked a really good one, Bald Eagle Cafe, that sets up a couple times a month in nearby Ingram.
We have sampled and split the burger with fried mac-n-cheese, fried egg sandwich, schnitzel sandwich and a gyro. Every sandwich was excellent.
We keep thinking the medical stuff will slow down but when you do weekly updates it seems like there is always something medical, this week more so than usual. Jo continued her physical therapy on her foot and had a second pain shot for her back. Bob had his yearly skin cancer checkup and a couple spots removed and sent our for analysis. JJ, our orange and white cat, had his teeth cleaned and suspicious lump removed and sent off for analysis.
We are now just hunkering down at home to avoid all the Christmas crowds with the exception of Mass, Jo's physical therapy, and any grocery shopping we need.

This was a prelude for Christmas week. We worked on Christmas decorations. All the stockings were hung on the valence with care, in hopes that SantaCat soon would be there.
On the medical front Jo continued her physical therapy this week and Sandra had her teeth cleaned and a tooth extraction. Here is SantaCat consoling his sister after her surgery.

SUNSET, PHYSICAL THERAPY, STEROID SHOT, EYE DOCTOR, AND A MINI-MOVE
Currently in Kerrville TX (Low 36 Mostly Cloudy High 72)
Sunsets at Kerrville-Schreiner Park are positioned that we don't see them from the rig so we haven't taken many photos while there. We did see a great one after shopping at Wal-Mart.
We had another busy week medically. Jo continued her physical therapy and got a steroid shot in her back and we both had our annual eye appointments.
After a month at Kerrville-Schreiner we departed yesterday for By the River RV Park, also in Kerrville but on the other end of town. We will be here for a few months.

MEDICAL, MOVIE, THANKSGIVING AND CARPET CLEANING
Currently in Kerrville TX (Low 51 Partly Sunny; Breezy High 63)
This past week Jo had the MRI of her back and continued physical therapy on her foot. It wasn't all medical as we saw 'Instant Family'.
Inspired by a true story the movie simultaneously tugged at your heart strings while being comedic. Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne were wonderful but the grandmas (Margo Martindale and Julie Hagerty) were terrific. A very good movie that we wholeheartedly recommend although there is some adult language, but like some movies it wasn't over the top.
We had a Thanksgiving meal with just the two of us so we could have leftovers which we finished off yesterday.
When you live fulltime in an RV you still have household chores and on Black Friday instead of shopping we cleaned the carpet with our Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner. Believe us, crawling around on the floor with the spot cleaner is much better than being jostled by the Black Friday shoppers.

FOOD, DIFFERENT VET, PHYSICAL THERAPY, MRI AND SPORTS
Currently in Kerrville TX (Low 41 Cloudy High 58)
We ate at one of our favorites this last week, Rio Ranch Cafe.
We had a scare with Tiger and had to take her to her vet. We caught an infection real early and she has one more shot next week so she seems to be OK. Jo is still dealing with her back pain so the pain center scheduled a MRI to get a better look at her current condition. They plan to do a steroid shot series to help with her pain so we are hoping that works. She is also getting physical therapy for her foot sprain.
This time of the year is one of the best times of the year sports wise. College football is winding down and college basketball is starting. This last weekend had Iowa State in a meaningful game in November with Big 12 title implications. Although it did not turn out like Bob wanted it still has been a great year for the Cyclones with a couple more games to play and then a bowl game. On Sunday the Iowa State women won the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) by handily beating the 24th ranked Miami. Tonight the Iowa State men are playing Arizona in the Maui Invitational and set a record for the most tickets bought by any school for the Maui Invitational.
It is a great time for sports for sure, second only to March Madness in Bob's opinion.
We would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Currently in Kerrville TX (Low 44 Considerable Cloudiness High 58)
We have been in Kerrville for a little over a week and our time has been spent catching up with our doctors, a visit to the vet for one of our cats and of course eating at some of our favorite places.
We still have a few favorites to visit.
The next week will involve some more medical stuff and probably a steak at Mamacita's.

COOPER'S OLD TIME PIT BBQ IN LLANO TEXAS (AND A PARK REVIEW)
Currently in Llano TX (Low 48 Currently Partly Cloudy 54)
Heading to Kerrville TX (Currently 54 Sunny High 64)
Consistently rated as one of the best BBQs in Texas you just had to know we would someday eat at Cooper's Old Time Pit BBQ in Llano. At Cooper's you order at the pit.
Bob has been craving some beef ribs and Cooper's did not disappoint. Jo said one of her bites tasted like prime rib. The pork ribs were good but a little tough and the brisket was good but we think we like Bill's BBQ in Kerrville better. We also got some peach cobbler which was really good.
While in Llano we stayed at Riverway RV Park that sits next to the Llano River.
Earlier this year flash flooding of the Llano River caused some havoc in Llano but this RV park was spared since up on a bluff overlooking the river. GPS brought us right to the park. The office staff was friendly. This is a Passport America park for 2 nights. The park roads and sites are gravel. We are in a long pull thru with a good line of sight for our roof mounted satellite dish. The hookups were convenient. ATT coverage was good for cellular at 4 bars and LTE was 3 bars.
We would stay again at this park. We depart today for Kerrville for the winter.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN - TO CISCO TEXAS (AND A PARK REVIEW)
Currently in Cisco TX (Low 62 Currently Cloudy 65)
Heading to Llano TX (Currently 72 Sunny Intervals; Humid High 83)
After 3 nights in Wichita Falls Texas we departed yesterday and headed to Cisco, also in Texas. We are staying at the RV Park associated with the Executive Inn in Cisco.
It was approximately 125 miles and man was it nice to be on better roads after our usual experience with rough roads in Oklahoma. To put it into perspective we were on some Texas County Roads yesterday that were better than I-44 in Oklahoma and we paid a lot of money in tolls for the privilege of loosening some fillings. This is the route we took.
We stayed hooked up last night. Executive Inn RV Park is OK for an overnight stay. We were in a long pull thru on asphalt that had a good line of sight for our roof mounted satellite dish. We only used electricity. ATT service was good so overall we were happy. Here is the Lifestyle and truck.
We are heading to Llano Texas today for some good Texas brisket at Coopers.

REVIEW OF WICHITA FALLS RV PARK IN WICHITA FALLS TEXAS
Currently in Wichita Falls TX (Low 50 Currently Sunny 57)
Heading to Cisco TX (Currently 50 Mostly Sunny; Pleasant High 83)
Wichita Falls RV Park is a nice park in Wichita Falls Texas. After the red mud and so so park in Oklahoma City it was great to be in a very long pull-thru that was a little wet but no more red mud. Our GPS devices brought us right to the park. The office staff was friendly and except for the sewer connection at a weird angle the hookups were convenient. The roads were gravel as were the sites. The patio with picnic table was concrete. ATT cellular was strong at 4-5 bars and ATT 4g was real good at a consistent 3 bars and about 10Mbps. Here is the Lifestyle from the front.

CATCHING UP - PRECIOUS MOMENTS CHAPEL IN CARTHAGE MISSOURI
Currently in Wichita Falls TX (Low 50 Plenty of Sunshine High 77)
Catching up on our recent tour of the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage Missouri which was incredible.
The Chapel has often been described as “America’s Sistine Chapel” as an artful representation of Michelangelo’s own Sistine Chapel in Rome. Here is a photo from their website.
Tours for the Chapel are free and the accompanying grounds include an Visitor Center with Gift Shop, Royal Cafe and gardens adorned with bronze statues and fountains. The Visitor Center houses the world’s largest Precious Moments Gift Shop, as well as exclusive figurines. Here are some of the photos we took. You had to know if there was an RV related scene we would find it.
The visitors center was already decorated for Christmas.
The Chapel from a distance along the walkway.
The murals in the Chapel were amazing.
Precious Moments has long been on our bucket list so it was good to finally visit.

PARK REVIEW AND A GREAT FOODIE FIND
Currently in Hillsdale KS (Low 65 Clouds Currently 68)
Heading to Belton MO (Currently 61 Fog then Mostly Cloudy; Humid High 77)
We really enjoyed our stay at Hillsdale State Park near Paola Kansas. We are in the newest campground, Sunflower, and to us it is a really nice campground. The roads are asphalt and the sites are concrete with a concrete patio. We are in a long curved pull-thru with convenient hookups. Since it is a new campground there were no trees so we had no worries about our roof mounted satellite dish. There is a lot of room between sites. ATT cellular was pretty good at 2-3 bars. ATT 4g was kinda hit and miss. Sometimes it would be great and sometimes almost nonexistent. There is no park Wifi so we were dependent on ATT. If in the area we would stay here again. Here is the Lifestyle from the side since a curved pull-thru.
To the right.
To the left.
We didn't have a water view from our site but a few backins did have a view of Hillsdale Lake.
We may be back in the area if only to eat at a great foodie find, Beethoven's #9, a German-Italian restaurant in nearby Paola Kansas recommended by Jo's niece and her husband.
A lot of times at a new restaurant we get a couple of dishes and split them. We decided on jagerschnitzel with a mushroom cream gravy and beef stroganoff with red cabbage, warm potato salad and spatzkle as our sides.
Everything was wonderful as were the desserts that we took to go. A definite must visit whenever we are in the area for sure. Jo's niece and her husband like it so much they are moving closer early next year LOL
We depart today back to Belton Missouri for a couple weeks.

After a few nights at Camp Baird in Belton Missouri we departed yesterday for Hillsdale Kansas near Paolo. We are staying at Hillsdale State Park.
It was approximately 45 miles, this is approximately the route we took.
We have a wedding to go to later in the week and we decided we wanted to be closer.
Till next time,
Bob and Jo
