We saw this cartoon recently and really liked it.
Living fulltime in an RV isn't always a vacation. Yesterday was a day just like we were living in our old sticks and bricks place. We cleaned house, did laundry, ran the dishwasher, took showers, etc. Just like in a home we have a lot of these type days. We did find time to go into nearby Mossyrock and have a great burger at the Pioneer Bar and Grill. Anyone who likes burgers should try this place.
We then went back and walked around the park. Here is our Cameo in our site.
Even with all the trees we got a good spot for our satellite dish.

Silver Creek WA (Low 55 Foggy in the Morning then Mostly Sunny High 87)
We left Long Beach Washington yesterday and headed to Silver Creek Washington. It was approximately 130 miles, the route we took is shown below and we crossed the Astoria Bridge again and went through Oregon on the way to Silver Creek.
While in Silver Creek we plan on visiting Mt. Rainier.
Not sure if we are looking forward to the heat that is forecast for Silver Creek but seeing the sun more than 4 hours in a week will be nice. We are staying at Harmony Lakeside RV Park on Mayfield Lake and it is gorgeous. We will have more pictures later.

Currently in Long Beach WA (Low 50 Cloudy Currently 53)
Heading to Silver Creek WA (Currently 60 Mostly Sunny High 88)
We kinda drove on the beach yesterday. We were in Ocean Park having lunch and shopping at Jack's Country store and we couldn't resist seeing the beach and ocean once more. We ate at Full Circle Cafe and it was very good. May have been Jo's favorite chowder that we split along with a crustless crab quiche. Wish we had found this place earlier. We got some great desserts to go and a quart of clam chowder for tonight. After lunch we drove to the beach and then onto the beach. In this photo you can see the top of the mirror from our truck.
We kinda drove on the beach because for a good portion of your drive towards the ocean the sand is embedded with rocks. We didn't think that dually tires would do well on just sand so we didn't venture to far off of the rock crusted path, but hey, we drove on the beach!
As you know we travel the country and live fulltime in our RV with 3 cats. Our cats really like the view of the evergreens and birds out our back window here at Andersen's RV Park. Here are Sandra and Tiger enjoying the view.
That view can get tiring, here are all three resting after.
Today we "plan" to leave Long Beach and head to Silver Creek Washington, Lord willing and the slideout comes in.

Currently in Long Beach WA (Low 50 Cloudy then hopefully Clearing High 66)

The forecast and the results have been pretty much the same since we got here, cloudy and foggy in the morning with potential clearing in the afternoon. But it has cleared only one day and we went to Cape Disappointment State Park. Yesterday was dreary all day so we didn't do much except walk along the beach and go to Mass.
This allows us to catch up on our time in Simi Valley California in one of the dead zones we have encountered this trip. We really liked the Tapo Canyon County Park and would highly recommend this park with a big caveat emptor, it is a big dead zone. Most of the 16 sites (all 50a and all fhu) can get a good line of sight for a satellite dish and you are only 3 miles from the interstate but it does not feel like you are in the Los Angeles metroplex. About a mile from the interstate you are in the wilderness and two miles from the interstate you are in the dead zone.
It was on one of Bob's morning walks in Tapo Canyon that the idea for the 'Walk Along With Bob' blog postings was born. Bob's walk on the wild side was towards a dead end road with all kinds of bird noises, especially these guys just walking about and squawking like only they can squawk. Sounded like Bob was in a zoo.

They were on a fence, they were everywhere.
Bob also saw or heard blue birds, chickens, hawks, crows and countless other birds he has no idea what they were. He also saw rabbits, squirrels and maybe ferrets but wasn't close enough to be sure. There were horse stables right across the street so he saw the occasional horse being ridden and some in the pastures. Then there were the dogs, seemed like everybody on the walk had dogs, some of which were the size of small ponies.
It was a beautiful walk with great weather in the early morning, usually 50 degrees and clear. Here is the rock face in the canyon wall he saw on his walk back.
It is amazing what you see and hear when you take a walk on the wild side.

Currently in Long Beach WA (Low 51 Clouds and Sunshine High 67)
Yesterday was another cloudy day but we still did a few things. Jack's Country Store in nearby Ocean Park is known for having just about everything.
We can attest to the fact that there is a lot there from groceries to toys to hardware to clothes to camping to RV to ...., well you get the idea. Bought some groceries and cat food and there were places we couldn't go with the cart so we will have to go back. We then went to the Long Beach farmers market but it was a bust, not many vendors and nothing really appealed to us.
Since we weren't sure we would get any more clearing we decided to visit Oysterville which has a historic district with most buildings on the National Registry of Historic Places. Here is a picture from the web, our pictures of Oysterville did not turn out for some reason.
Oysterville sits on the Willapa Bay which produces the most oysters of any estuary in the United States and is in the top 5 in the world. We wanted to have some fresh oysters so went to the Oysterville Sea Farm.
We parked by the sign and this big pile of rocks only to find out it is a pile of oyster shells.

Here is the building where we bought fresh oysters, smoked oysters, frozen crab cakes, etc.
We took them home and had fresh oysters for supper, believe it or not these are categorized as extra-small.
We then drove some more around Oysterville and Nahcotta and saw piles of oyster shells even larger. It was a fun time and the oysters were great.

Currently in Long Beach WA (Low 48 Cloudy and Foggy with Clearing Later High 69)
It finally did clear up yesterday so we headed to Cape Disappointment State Park. One account of how Cape Disappointment got its name is that British fur trader John Meares who was sailing south along the coast. A storm came up and he turned around and he just missed discovering the Columbia River. He was later 'disappointed' that he did not discover the Columbia River.
We drove around the park and got some nice photos. Here is one from Beards Hollow.

The nice thing about the Benson Beach area is that you can see the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse and the North Head Lighthouse.
We then walked the trail to get to the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. Here is the trail.

Turns out it did not clear off at all yesterday so we didn't do much except relax and walk along the beach. This allows us to catch up on blog entries while we were recently in the dead zones. While in Simi Valley California we visited the Reagan Presidential Library.
Sitting high in the hills above Simi Valley the Library sits on a beautiful piece of land.
There is enough land for a replica of the Rose Garden
and the South Lawn
The exhibits inside the Library go from his birth in rural Illinois to his sportscasting days in Iowa to Hollywood to the Governorship of California to the Presidency. Too much detail to adequately cover so here is a few photos of our visit. The flag from the American Embassy in Tehran and the hostage crisis.

An interesting story of the Oval Office that was being completed while President Reagan was still alive. He walked in and said the ceiling was too low and was told that it had to be that way due to the building construction. President Reagan wanted it to be an authentic replica in every detail so the floor was dug out to reach the proper height. That is why you take steps down into this part of the library and the ramp up once you leave. Here is the Oval Office.

We of course had to pay our respects at the gravesite.
This is an incredible historical visit that we really enjoyed. Leaving the Library we couldn't help feeling better about the country than when we entered, President Reagan still has that effect on us.
It is "supposed" to clear off at about 1p today so we "plan" to visit the lighthouses today, if not we will do some indoor sightseeing. We have a few days to wait for the clear moment since we are so close.
