I cannot believe it has been so long since my last blog entry. I really am a bad blogger but I promise once we start full-timing it will get better. I have entries on Albuquerque and Clearwater Beach that I want to do plus fill you in on where we are and what we are seeing.
It is taking longer than we thought to get things done. We realized that the entry way would need to be re-tiled. The house was built in the 80's and they set the tile in thick mortar that they did not mix properly so some areas were loose and it was terribly uneven. This turned out to be a dusty and messy adventure, not as dusty as the great kitchen disaster of 2008 but pretty close. First I had to level the floor with mortar and then use thinset to adhere tile to the new mortar. Only had a couple of tiles that I had to redo where new mortar adhered to old mortar but not to the tile. Painting the entry way door on the inside to cover up a bad stain job finishes the entry way. For the great room we spray painted the fireplace insert and vent fan covers, bought and installed roman shades and just finished up valences. In the full-timing arena we setup mail forwarding service and are changing addresses.
We are in the midst of staging the upstairs rooms and will start cleaning out garage and will spruce it up next week along with cleaning siding and windows and a touchup on the painting outside. It has been unbelievably rainy this spring so the outside work has slipped a little.
So as you can see we are getting real close. I would like to be finished in May and talk to the potential FSBO prospects and start interviewing realtors. We are heading to Sedalia in late May for a bootcamp for potential full-timers at the Escapade.
Till next time,
Bob & Jo
